Surah Al-Qamar Verses 51–55

51

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَآ أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ

And We have already destroyed your kinds,1590 so is there any who will remember?

  1. [1590] i.e., those similar to you in attitude and behavior when they rejected Allāh's messengers. ↩

Word by Word ▾
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqad
أَهْلَكْنَآWe destroyedahlaknā
أَشْيَاعَكُمْyour kindsashyāʿakum
فَهَلْso is (there)fahal
مِنanymin
مُّدَّكِرٍۢwho will receive admonitionmuddakirin
52

وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍۢ فَعَلُوهُ فِى ٱلزُّبُرِ

And everything they did is in written records.

وَكُلُّAnd everywakullu
شَىْءٍۢthingshayin
فَعَلُوهُthey didfaʿalūhu
فِى(is) infī
ٱلزُّبُرِthe written recordsl-zuburi
53

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍۢ وَكَبِيرٍۢ مُّسْتَطَرٌ

And every small and great [thing] is inscribed.

وَكُلُّAnd everywakullu
صَغِيرٍۢsmallṣaghīrin
وَكَبِيرٍۢand bigwakabīrin
مُّسْتَطَرٌ(is) written downmus'taṭarun
54

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَنَهَرٍۢ

Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,

فِى(will be) infī
جَنَّٰتٍۢgardensjannātin
وَنَهَرٍۢand riverwanaharin
55

فِى مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِندَ مَلِيكٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرٍۭ

In a seat of honor near a Sovereign, Perfect in Ability.1591

  1. [1591] Who accomplishes whatever He wills whenever He wills. ↩
