What these prayer times mean
Fajr marks the start of the dawn prayer window, before sunrise. Sunrise is shown as a reference point, not a prayer — no salah is offered at sunrise. Dhuhr begins just after the sun passes its highest point. Asr is the afternoon prayer. Maghrib begins at sunset. Isha is the night prayer.
Why calculations differ
Prayer times are calculated from the sun’s position, but different authorities use different solar angles for Fajr and Isha, different Asr shadow-length conventions (Standard vs. Hanafi), and different rules for locations at high latitudes where the sun doesn’t fully set or rise for part of the year. Two correct calculations can show times a few minutes apart.
Calculated time vs. mosque schedule
These times are calculated estimates, not an announcement from any specific mosque. Local mosques may adjust their posted times slightly, and Jumu’ah (Friday) congregation start times are set by each mosque individually — always check your local mosque for its actual schedule.

Which calculation method should I choose?
There is no single correct method worldwide — major regional authorities (ISNA, Muslim World League, Umm Al-Qura, University of Islamic Sciences Karachi) each publish their own. Pick the one your local mosque or region follows.
Why is Asr calculated differently?
Standard (Shafi’i, Maliki, Hanbali) and Hanafi schools use a different shadow-length ratio to determine when Asr begins, so Hanafi Asr times fall later than Standard.
Does VerseSurah store my location?
