1. DATA WE COLLECT AND RETENTION

When you visit our site, the following data may be collected automatically: IP address (anonymized), browser type and version, pages visited, time spent on pages, and access time.

No registration or membership is required for general visitors. Personal preferences such as your favorited verses, reading streak, and reading position are stored only in your browser's own storage (localStorage) — they are never sent to our servers or tied to an account. Authentication is used only for our own site administration panel; general visitors never need to authenticate.

When you use the contact form, your full name, email address, and message content are processed solely to respond to your request and, where necessary, to follow up with you, and are kept until your request is resolved.

When you sign up for our newsletter, only your email address and the page you signed up from are stored; this data is used solely to send announcements about new content. Your email address is never sold or shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes — your subscription record is stored in Supabase, and email delivery is carried out by Resend as a data processor (see "3. Third-Party Services" below). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of every newsletter email — once you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from the active mailing list (your record is marked "unsubscribed") and you will not receive further newsletters. If you want your record deleted entirely, you can request this via the contact address listed in section 4 below.

General rule: data not otherwise addressed above is kept until its processing purpose no longer applies or you request deletion — we don't apply a fixed maximum retention period.

2. COOKIES AND ADVERTISING

This site may use Google AdSense to serve ads. Once Google AdSense approval is obtained and ads are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads personalized to your interests.

Anonymized usage statistics (visit count, page views) · only loads if you accept the "analytics" category in the cookie banner.

AlQuran Cloud / Islamic Network

Audio streaming · your browser connects directly to this provider's server; technical data such as IP address and browser information may be processed by them.

AlAdhan API

Prayer time and qibla calculation · when you click a "Use My Location" button, the latitude/longitude coordinates your browser provides are sent directly to this service to calculate prayer times. Location is only requested after you explicitly click a location button; these coordinates are never tied to an account or identity and are not stored by us. Technical data such as your IP address may be processed by the provider during the connection.

Cinzel and Inter typefaces

Downloaded at build time via Next.js's next/font and served from our own server — your browser never requests Google's font servers.

Supabase

Database and authentication infrastructure · only site administration panel authentication, newsletter subscription, and contact-form data is stored on EU-based servers (Frankfurt, Germany). Visitor preferences such as favorited verses are not included here — those stay in your browser.

Resend

Email delivery infrastructure · newsletter and contact-form notification emails are sent through this service.

Vercel

Hosting infrastructure · every page of this site is served through this provider, which may retain basic request/access logs.

4. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — including the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We do not sell personal data. To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@versesurah.com.

You can change your cookie choice at any time — the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer clears your previous choice and reopens the preference screen. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter instantly via the link at the bottom of any newsletter email.

This policy may be updated as needed. For material changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
