السلام
AS-SALAM
Free of every defect, the source of peace and security
Meaning and Explanation
As-Salam comes from the root for soundness/safety/peace. In one sense it expresses that God's essence is free (salim) from any calamity, defect, or extinction; in another, that He is the source who grants His servants peace, tranquility, and security. That the people of Paradise and the angels greet one another with "peace" (see Ya-Sin 36:58) points to this name's social and eschatological dimension as well.

Dhikr Tradition
Some sources describe reciting As-Salam while seeking inner peace and security as a traditional practice; this is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment and is not a guarantee of any specific outcome.
Remembrance (dhikr) through the beautiful names is a foundational act of worship in Islam. However, reciting a name a specific number of times (based on its abjad value) or at a specific day/time carries no religious obligation, and scholars are not unanimous on this point — some accept it as a traditional practice, others hold it has no basis in the primary sources. The information on this page does not constitute religious ruling.
